Covered California has awarded a three-year, $50 million contract to Irvine-based Pinnacle Claims Management Inc. to administer the state’s new small employer health insurance program. The contract is supported by federal funding under the Affordable Care Act. Covered California is expected to pick up the tab with its own revenue, starting in 2015. The program will offer about 375,000 California small business owners access to an affordable array of health coverage options for their employees next year. Enrollment will begin Oct. 1. Pinnacle and its affiliates have more than 15 years of experience providing health benefit management services to employer-sponsored, self-funded health benefit plans according to a recent report at www.bizjournals.com
