Newly released findings from the 2021 Barometer Study reveal the majority of Black Americans own life insurance (56%), up three percentage points from 2020 and four percentage points higher than the general population. Yet this still represents a 19-point gap from the 75% of Black Americans who believe they need life insurance.

This is definitely something to explore. Connect Healthcare Collaboration has launched The Granite List. It’s a platform where employers and brokers can search, source and compare benefits solutions. Vendors can also gain visibility and insight on the most direct leads. The company says the Granite List works similarly to a comparison-shopping engines or a virtual marketplaces like Amazon or TripAdvisor. From the written release:

AQUISITION
AmeriLife announced it has acquired Maximum Senior Benefits (MSB), a retail insurance marketing organization that distributes final expense insurance. Founded in 2011, MSB provides extensive training and sales models to agents that allow them to capitalize on cross-selling opportunities to grow their business. MSB is headquartered in Utah and a majority of their agency partners are located in the Western United States, which will diversify AmeriLife’s geographical footprint, according to the company.

InsurTech Hartford Announces Innovation Challenge Winners and In-Person Symposium in October
InsurTech Hartford (ITH) announced the winners of the organization’s recent Global InsurTech Innovation Challenge. ITH also announced it will hold an in-person edition of the InsurTech Hartford Symposium for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sponsored by Travelers Insurance, Launch Hartford, Amica Mutual, Beazley Group, Hartford Steam Boiler, CGI, and Appian, with support from the Connecticut Insurance Department, Connecticut Insurance & Financial Services (CIFS), and the University of Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, the 2021 Global InsurTech Innovation Challenge drew nearly 100 submissions from 12 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
PainWorth was the top winner in the Travelers Emerging Product category, with Saya and Sola in runner-up positions. In the Judges’ All-Around Favorite category, Otonomi came in on top, followed closely by Serenus and Protosure. Finally, the judges selected CoverHero in the Best Emerging InsurTech category with WeAnalyze and MotionsCloud as fast followers.
