Health Insurers Post Record Profits in Second-Quarter 2020

We see very high potential for misinterpretation by the public in this news…AM Best says U.S. health insurers’ net underwriting income in second-quarter 2020 increased to $28.3 billion from $9.1 billion in the same prior-year period. AM Best notes that utilization has picked up since midyear in most states. The level of underwriting income is expected to temper in the third and fourth quarter, of course.
